If a digital print of a photograph should be produced which, at the place where the photograph was taken and with natural light, is always a precise color reproduction of the photographed object and unaffected by natural light with its changes in light temperature, one encounters a technical impossibility.
If the light is constant, i.e. artificial light, a relatively exact result can be achieved though, with the help of test prints. In this case, a digital print of a photographed object taken at a specific location in a 1:1 ratio can be used to reconstruct the lighting situation in relation to the architecture of the location where the photograph was taken, at another location.
If the light is not constant, the color reproduction can only correspond to a specific light situation at a specific location. If such a print is placed at the shooting location with a 1:1 ratio to the photographed object and with a different light situation than the one in the photograph, two light situations of a place can be visualized simultaneously.
